Too much of anything
is bad, but too much
of good whiskey is
barely enough."

What does it mean…

…when people think you’re the owner of the bar?  This seems to happen at least once a month.  I’d like to think it means I take my job seriously and invest myself in what I do for people.   Mostly I think it’s because I’m bossy.

I love customers.  Sounds trite and disingenuous, doesn’t it?  I really mean it, though.  I love customers.  I love that I can interact with someone for a brief time, and when they leave they can consider their evening a success.  Perhaps it’s a power thing, but bartenders and servers really can make or break an evening (of course, being in the SERVICE industry means there’s no reason why any server would want to do anything but make your evening a success).  Also, it’s a nice feeling for someone to come in to see you, or be pleased that you’re working.

Though I love the attention I get from customers and truly enjoy helping them have a good time, I’m secretly grateful our interaction is relatively brief, as anyone who gets to know me for an extended period of time eventually realizes I’m an insufferable dork.
