I was a little apprehensive about Tuesday Half-Off Martini/Manhattan night– what with all the rain forecast.  Since a large portion of our clientele is pedestrian traffic, I wondered if I’d be sitting alone staring at the rain while experimenting with new cocktails (trying them all, naturally.  I wouldn’t want to give customers anything of which I didn’t approve.  Of course, I’d experiment with a few shots of Buffalo Trace neat to make sure they meet my exacting standards).  Fortunately my fears were unfounded, as group after group piled in shaking off the rain elbowing up to the bar.  I saw a few new faces as well as many comfortable regular ones, and the night sailed by.

For some reason however, everyone seemed to say, “Hey Dave, wanna shot?”  Do I really look like I need a drink all the time?  Whatever look it is I’m giving people that inspires them to want to provide me with booze, I need to isolate and practice it for when I go out on my nights off…
